Frederick David Bird, 86, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 in South Bend, Indiana.

Fred was born on October 30, 1937 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Stanley Bird and Julia (Cherone) Bird.

Fred had a passion for travel, particularly to the gulf coast with his best friend Lillian Bird, where they enjoyed the tranquility of the sea and the freedom of the open road in his motorhome. These journeys brought him immense joy and provided him with countless stories that he loved to share with friends and family. His adventurous spirit was infectious, inspiring others to explore the beauty of our world.

Service was a cornerstone of Fred's life. He dedicated many years to his church team, preparing and serving meals for the Hope Rescue Mission. His commitment to this cause was unwavering, and his efforts brought comfort and sustenance to many in need. Fred also served as a greeter at Granger Community Church, welcoming all with his warm smile and kind words. His presence was a beacon of light and love within the community.

Fred's love for the holiday season was evident in the elaborate Christmas village he would set up in his dining room each year. Complete with lights, a train set, and a full village, this display brought joy to all who saw it. Fred's Christmas village was a testament to his creativity and his love for the magic of the holiday season.

A devout Christian, Fred had a deep love for studying the Bible, particularly the teachings about the End Times and heaven. His faith was unwavering, and he found great comfort and joy in his relationship with Jesus Christ. Now, Fred is at home with his Savior, experiencing the peace and joy of heaven that he so often studied and anticipated. His life was a reflection of his faith, and his legacy will continue to inspire all.

Fred was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Per Fred’s wishes, there will be no services held at this time.
