Betty Rae (Yelton) Swartz
September 9, 1927 ~ August 17, 2023 95 Years Old
Betty Rae Swartz, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, in Mishawaka, Indiana at the age of 95. Born on September 9, 1927, in White City, Illinois, Betty was the daughter of the late Ray Yelton and Rose Hennesey. She was also raised by her late stepfather, Edward Hennesey.
Betty graduated from James Whitcome Riley High School, South Bend, Indiana, where she developed her lifelong love for music and concert going. She was also an ardent fan of drag racing, a pastime she enjoyed both attending and watching.
Betty was married to the late Richard Swartz with whom she shared 69 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. She is survived by her children, Jane Ann Brennen of New Carlisle, Indiana, and John Swartz and his wife, Mary Jo, of Iowa. Betty was also blessed with the companionship of her special friend, Brian Kinner.
Those who knew Betty would describe her as a faithful and honest person, unwavering in her dedication to her family. Her resilience was an attribute that those around her greatly admired and will remember fondly.
Betty Rae Swartz's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the joy of shared experiences. As we mourn her passing, may her memory continue to inspire us all and may her spirit live on in our hearts forever.
Memorial services for Betty will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Private inurnment will be held at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, IN at a later date.
