Beverly J. Robinson
Beverly J. Robinson Oct. 27, 1926 - March 23, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Beverly Joann Robinson, 87, passed away on March 23rd following a six-year battle with Alzheimer's with her daughter and granddaughters at her side. She was born in South Bend on October 27, 1926, to the late Homer and Almeda (Heilman) Morgan. The youngest of four daughters, Beverly was also preceded in death by her older sisters Mary Ellen (Herb) Zeissig, Doris (Charles) Prussner and Bernetta (Forest) Chapman.
In 1949 she married Kenneth Robinson who passed away in May 1993.
Beverly is survived by a family who will miss her easy going personality and wonderful sense of humor but will cherish always the wonderful memories held in their hearts: her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jack Freel of Granger; her beloved granddaughters: Lauren (Andrew) Fiedler of South Bend, Lesley Freel of Columbus, Ohio and Aubrey Freel of Granger; as well as her much loved nephew Timothy (Patricia) Chapman and niece Debra Chapman and great nephews: Timothy (Kris and son Cole) Chapman all of South Bend and Jeffrey Chapman of Los Angeles, CA.
Beverly was employed by the Studebaker Corporation upon her graduation from Riley High School in 1944 until the company's closure in 1963. She then worked in the personnel department of Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan, MI until her retirement in 1986 when she devoted her time to her family and her church.
Beverly was an active member of the former Maple Lane United Methodist Church where she served as the church's secretary for many years as well as a member of the women's auxiliary. Beverly will forever be remembered by her family for her positive outlook on life, her patience, her lovely smile and her readiness to help anyone in need. She enjoyed time spent with her granddaughters as well as her sister and best friend, Bernie. Beverly was an accomplished baker and her family will always remember the fabulous pies and pastries she made. She shared a love of animals with her family and was an active supporter of the Humane Society and a generous financial supporter of the National Wildlife Foundation, the Audubon Society and many other conservation and animal help organizations. She enjoyed traveling and was always ready to pack her suitcase for the next adventure or take a trip to Chicago for a Cubs game.
Beverly's family would like to recognize the wonderful staff of both Hospice and Caring Junction Residential Facility for their loving care during the past few months.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 4-7pm and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30am, at the McGann Hay Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off of Cherry Rd. A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday with Pastor Michael Butler, of Granger Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, officiating, at McGann Hay, Granger Chapel. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Beverly may be donated to the St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
