Edward Allan Berebitsky

Edward "Eddie" Allan Berebitsky

May 26, 1946     ~     July 22, 2023 (age 77)

Edward "Eddie" Berebitsky "always had a great big heart," his brother Dr. Gary Berebitsky said. "I knew he would always be there to protect me." This little mountain of a man would go to the mat for anyone he felt was being mistreated. Whether he was protecting kids in the neighborhood from an unfair fight when younger or giving loans and extra time off to employees who had illness in their family, Eddie showed he cared.

Eddie's greatest talent - besides business and finance, electrical and mechanical engineering, deep sea and lake fishing - was his ability to make anyone with whom he spoke, or perhaps more aptly, to whom he listened, feel like they were the only person in the room. Then his most important contribution to that conversation would be thoughtful advice, a vivacious laugh, or an uplifting and sincere compliment. The most fortunate would get all three.

Edward had great acumen in terms of business and operations. The secret to his success was not just his degree from IU in finance, but the fact that he learned his father's business from the bottom up before expanding and rebranding the family business as Delta Star Electric. His complex knowledge of big machinery as well as his ability to solve problems wherever they emerged and use resources effectively are rare qualities in executives both then and now. Those skills propelled him to start another business and ultimately to join Steel Warehouse as a Vice President, before retiring in 2017.

He then realized his dream, living in Florida with his beloved wife Janice while fishing in the deep seas.

Edward is survived by his wife Janice Berebitsky, siblings Gail Morse and Gary Berebitsky, his three sons Doug (Kimberly), Steve, and Jeff, five grandchildren Ari, Rachel, Zachary, Sam, and Philip, and his two step children Danny and Dana Goldberg. He is predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Jenni Kleinman Berebitsky, and his parents David and Dorothy Berebitsky.

Edward was born May 26, 1946 and passed on July 22, 2023.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation South Cemetery, 140 W Kelly Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, at 11:00am. Due to anticipated heat, dress comfortably. Water will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Planned Parenthood of Indiana, the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana, or the Cemetery Fund of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation.

Arrangements entrust to Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, www.arnmortuary.com
