Joseph Fredrick “Fred” Fuller

July 25, 1944 ~ January 31, 2024 (age 79)

Joseph Fredrick “Fred” Fuller of Conway, South Carolina passed on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was born July 25, 1944 in South Bend, Indiana to Christel (Katlun) Moryl, a first generation immigrant from Germany, and Joseph Fuller, a successful engineer. He graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School and later worked on the floor at Nyloncraft, a molded plastics factory. With tenacity and drive, he worked his way to upper management, eventually starting his own business, Plastic Solutions Inc. with 2 colleagues. His passion and knowledge of the industry brought success to this venture earning him an award for entrepreneur of the year. If he could have worked 24 hours a day, he might have, carrying great pride for his work ethic and accomplishments. In fact, he loved working so much he retired 3 different times.

Fred was a unique man who did everything exactly the way he wanted. He was stubborn to a fault, a trait that became both endearing and aggravating to those who loved him. He had a passion for sports, and enjoyed watching any game, most notably Notre Dame football. His love for the Fighting Irish so great, he held season tickets for many years. He was a spitfire and prolific storyteller, often weaving a tale filled with jokes, unbelievable truths and slight inaccuracies. His remarkably dry wit could catch the unsuspecting off guard as he was always one to say exactly what was on his mind. He thrived when keeping an audience entertained and with his astounding memory, could share a detailed fact on just about any subject. If you were a friend of Fred’s, it was for life, and he kept up with many childhood acquaintances, some he’d known for more than 60 years. He was generous with those in his circle, lending an ear, his time, or even money to friends, colleagues and employees.

He was a collector of things he loved and maybe a bit impulsive resulting in collections of watches, knives and nutcrackers. No stranger to the Gem Shopping Network and QVC, he kept his eyes peeled for unique finds. And while this habit served himself sometimes, it most frequently was for the purpose of doting on his family. Always one to do things his own way, he paved his own unique path when building his family. Fred was married 5 times, maintaining close friendships with his ex-wives; and in fact, married one twice. He was a great girl-dad of three amazing daughters each of whom he gifted a ridiculous and embarrassing nickname he insisted using even when they were adults themselves. While Fred spent much energy on his own passions, he was known to take interest in his loved ones’ passions as well, randomly sending texts about some recent headline he’d seen to his grandchildren. His most recent joys in life were his two great-grandsons, who lovingly called him Grandpapa, and his sweet princess pup Mindy Luv.

Fred is survived by his wife, Ginny, sister, Terry, daughters, Staci, Dinalynn, and Jane, sons-in-law Brian, Jay and Jim, grandchildren Jessiah, Rebekah, Lahela, Cameron, Jace and Jessen and great grand-children Callum and Elijah. In true “Fred” fashion, he requested no fanfare over his passing. As such, there will be no services; however, the family asks that if you feel lead, celebrate his life in whatever way feels best to you. Maybe enjoy a drink, beer was Fred’s favorite, or share a memory with a friend. Big Fredi will be forever missed.
