SOUTH BEND - James "Jim" Thompson, 72, born July 12, 1936, in South Bend, died July 14, 2008, in Longmont, CO, from short-term cancer.

His wife Joan was at his side.

He graduated from Riley High School and Purdue University. He traveled extensively for Rohn & Haas Chemical Co.

There will be a memorial service on Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. in the North Webster Methodist Church, North Webster, IN.
