Gene Baney

Gene Baney, 75, of Burlington, Wis., passed away Friday, Nov. 15, in his residence. He was born Sept, 21, 1927, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Victor and Henrietta (Thompson) Baney, and was preceded in death by his parents. He spent his early life in South Bend, Ind., and attended Riley High School.

Gene served as a draftsman in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. On Dec. 11, 1948, in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Doris Mae Jenkins. Following marriage they resided in the South Bend and Mishawaka area, then moved to Rockford, Ill., and finally to Wisconsin. Gene had been a resident of Lyons following his retirement in 1989 from Abbot Laboratories where he worked as a design engineer.

He is a 50-year member of the E.F.W. Ellis, Masonic Lodge in Rockford, and the Statestreet Baptist Church in Rockford since 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Mae Baney of Burlington; his children, Joel (Mary) Baney of Bristol and Michelle Rowe of South Bend. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; and by a sister, Nancy (Ralph) Wolfe of South Bend.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. in the Schutte-Daniels Funeral Home, with Bernice Bassing officiating. Memorials to the Lake Geneva Hospice have been suggested.
