Beverly J. (Korkhouse) Mock
March 6, 1928 - April 1, 2013
CASSOPOLIS - Beverly Jean Mock, 85, of Diamond Lake, Cassopolis, MI, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, peacefully at home after a short illness. She was born March 6, 1928, in South Bend, IN, to the late Harold and Harriet (Pink) Korkhouse. On July 15, 1949, in Grace United Methodist Church, she married Ferris Eugene (Gene) Mock, who passed away in 2009.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Nancy L. DeVoe (Thomas) of Edwardsburg, MI, and Susan L. Horstmann (Douglas) of Cassopolis, MI; six grandchildren, Timothy DeVoe (Natalie), Jennifer DeVoe, Pamela Schmalfeldt (Adam), and Steven, Michelle and Stacey Horstmann; four great-grandchildren, Dyllan, Emma, Maximus and Brandon; sister, Freda Collier; sisters-in-law, Wanda Flesher and Barbara Mock; many nieces and nephews; and her favorite little "baby," Lucky, the dog.
Beverly graduated from Riley High School and devoted herself to raising her daughters with so much love and compassion.
She loved the water, spending most of her summers at Indian Lake, Dowagiac, MI, until Beverly and Gene retired to Diamond Lake in 1975. She enjoyed traveling, casinos, and entertaining family and friends, and always brought that loving and creative touch to every gathering. Mom and Dad shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. She is loved and admired as the best mother, grandmother and great-grandma ever. The family wants to thank Kim and Dawn of Grannys Nannys for all of their love and tender care.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, IN, where friends may visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Cass County Animal Shelter.
