CALIFORNIA - Memorial services have taken place for Mr. Roy L. Austin of California, formerly of South Bend, Indiana. Roy was born on June 13, 1935 to the union of Elder Grandberry (Bessie-Bennett) Austin.

He graduated from Riley High School and later received a master's degree in education.

He was a retired school teacher and also retired from the Unite States Post Office as a manager. In addition, Roy was honorably discharged from the United States Army.

Survivors include one daughter, Tina Austin; one son, Donald Robertson, both of California; one sister, Mary Patricia Austin of South Bend, Indiana; four brothers, Everett (Alice) Austin, Columbus, Ga, William B. Austin Sr., South Bend, IN, Lavelle (Heidi) Austin, Cleveland Heights, OH and Orvester Austin, Indianapolis, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elder Grandberry and Bessie Austin; his wife, Lavon Austin; sisters, Mable Alford, Ruth Starr and Beatrice Quinones; brothers, Charles C. Austin, L.. C. Austin, Cleophes Austin, Leamon Austin, Jimmy Austin and John Henry Austin.
