Forrest "Dale" Coahran

Forrest "Dale" Coahran, 86 years old, peacefully passed away at his home with his wife by his side on January 16, 2024 in South Bend. Dale was born on March 11, 1937 in South Bend, to the late Chester and Hazel (Teter) Coahran. On December 24, 1956, Dale married the love of his life, Sharon Richards, who survives.

Along with his loving wife of 67 years, Dale is survived by his daughters, Lisa Welter and Kelly (Jeff) Luepke; grandchildren, Hannah Luepke and Zachary Dale (Lauren) Luepke; and his brother, Raymond Coahran. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved. Dale is preceded in death by his parents; his sister and her spouse, Donna (Orland) Banning; son-in-law, Jon Welter; and sister-in-law, Joan Coahran.

Dale proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School in 1956 and a member of the UAW Local #9. Dale enjoyed the little things in life. He loved to lay in the sun, learn about history and watch the History Channel, watch football – especially the Green Bay Packers, and support his grandson at his football games. Dale also enjoyed taking trips across country on his Harley Davidson and going to the beach. He loved watching races and going to the South Bend Motor Speedway. Dale also had major sweet tooth. He loved eating desserts – especially his chocolates and any type of pie. Above all, Dale was a kind-hearted person who would do anything for anyone and would always make you laugh without trying. Everyone who knew Dale loved him, he never knew any enemies. He was a great man who will be greatly missed.

Friends and family will be received 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, South Bend, with a Funeral Service to begin at 1:30 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend.
