Delmar L. Danner, 63, of South Bend, Ind., died with family members by his side at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Hospice House at Hospice of St. Joseph County. He was born on Dec. 18, 1934, in South Bend, and resided in the area his entire life.

He graduated from Riley High School in South Bend in 1952.

He served in the United States Army as a communications specialist from 1954 to 1956.

On April 9, 1955, he married the former Anne-Jeanette Fechnerandi of Elkhart, Ind., who survives. Their children are Gayle S. Danner and Karen S. Danner of Chandler, Ariz., David L. Danner of Oakdale, Calif., and Douglas A. Danner of South Bend. Their grandchildren are Briana L. and Lauren R. Danner, also of Oakdale, Calif. Surviving sisters are Louise Cook of Bradenton, Fla., and Betty Margaret Wilson of Orlando, Fla. Surviving brothers are Vergil S. Danner, Jr., of Niles, Mich., and Richard W. Danner of Mishawaka, Ind.

Delmar was employed by the Miles Laboratories/Bayer Corporation for 31 years before retiring in 1997. As an active member of the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church he served as an usher, an ordained deacon and as an elder. He was involved with Cub Scouts and served as the scout master for Troop 523, sponsored by the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. He had also been a member of the River Park Fishermen's Club.

Friends may visit from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday at the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, 115 S. Frances Street, South Bend. Memorial contributions in the name of Delmar L. Danner may be made to Hospice House at Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
