SOUTH BEND - Mary L. Overmyer, 87, of South Bend, IN passed away at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Trailpoint Village. She was born on January 11, 1929 in South Bend, IN to the late DeVire and Genieve (Hawkins) Whitmer.
Mrs. Overmyer is survived by two daughters, Kathy Sue Carter of Port Richey, FL and Beth Krom of South Bend, IN; six grandchildren, Tracy and Jon Carter, Adam and Ashley Krom, Melissa Morrow and Daniel Caldwell; five great-grandchildren and two brothers, James (Sylvia) Whitmer of South Bend, IN and Donald (Betty) Whitmer of Ocala, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Diane Overmyer and Lori Lewis; son, Richard Overmyer; granddaughter, Stacey Carter; sister, Betty Morris and brother, Robert Whitmer.
Mrs. Overmyer was a lifelong resident. She worked in the personnel office at Sears for twenty years, was a secretary for Sysco Food for thirteen years and Rost Jewelers for ten years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
