Howard James Seifert

Services for Howard James Seifert, 59, of 13841 Early Road, Mishawaka, who died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, Mishawaka. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Humane Society of St. Joseph County.

Mr. Seifert was the international distributions manager of Miles Inc., Elkhart, and a former employee of Studebaker International of South Bend. He was born May 26, 1929, in Michigan City and had lived in the Michiana area most of his life.

On Dec. 17, 1549, in South Bend, he married Shirley Dering, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Diane L. Seifert of Mishawaka; a son, Erich B. of Osceola; one granddaughter; and his mother and stepfather, Ethel and Julius Nyikos of South Bend. A daughter, Lisa J. Seifert, died April 4, 1981.

Mr. Seifert was past president of the board of directors of Michiana World Trade Club; member of the church, Maritime Council, American Society of International Executives, Technical Committee of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association and Indiana National Guard; national chairman of American Association of Exporters and Importers, where he formerly served as Midwest chairman; past board member of Humane Society of St. Joseph County and had articles published in the Journal of Commerce and Congressional Record.
