June V. (Malley) Weichsel
June 2, 1923 - July 7, 2003

June V. Weichsel, 80, residing on York Road, South Bend, Ind, passed away at 1 a.m. Monday, July 7, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She was born June 2, 1923, in South Bend, as the daughter of Daniel B. and Marcella (Markle) Malley, and had lived in this community all of her life. She graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School where she served as concert mistress for the school orchestra. She was also a member of the South Bend Junior Symphony where she served as a violinist.

On June 24, 1944, in South Bend, as June V. Malley, she married George H. Weichsel. She is survived by her loving husband, George of 59 years; a daughter, Susan K. O'Malley of Lincoln, Neb.; and a son, Kenneth G. (Kay) Weichsel of West Bend, Wis.; four grandchildren, David Schoo of Austin, Texas, Stephen Schoo of Berkeley, Calif., Kate Weichsel of Cambridge, Mass., and Daniel Weichsel of Madison, Wis.; a sister, Evelyn (Kenneth) Burden of South Bend; and by a sister-in-law, Lois M. (Russell) Johnson of Aurora, Ill.

Mrs. Weichsel was a longtime member of Ridgedale Presbyterian Church, a member of the South Bend Audubon Society, and was a former member of the Elkhart Symphony. June and George belonged to many square-dancing and round-dancing clubs.

Memorial services for Mrs. Weichsel will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in Ridgedale Presbyterian Church. Dr. Jack Volkers, pastor, will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. She will be laid to rest at Southlawn Cemetery. Donations in memory of June V. Weichsel may be made to Ridgedale Presbyterian Church, 1406 E. Ewing Ave., South Bend, IN 46614; or to the American Cancer Society, 535 West Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Arrangements for the Weichsel family have been made by the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel.
