LAKEVILLE - Michael S. Boits, 54, of Lakeville, IN, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at home surrounded by his family after an extended battle with cancer. He was born on January 11, 1958, in South Bend, IN, to Richard and Margaret (Flack) Boits. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Mary H. Boits of 23 years, married on October 7, 1989, in Lakeville, IN; his son, Steven M. (Leah) Boits of Concord, NC; and daughters, Shannon M. (Jason) Anderson of Lakeville, IN, Annamarie S. Boits of Mishawaka, IN, Deborah J. Boits of Bloomington, IN, and JoAnn Boits of Brampton, Ontario, Canada; and five grandchildren, Henry, Tristen, Jacob, Sydney and Mikey. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Boits of Walkerton, IN; brother, Robert (Nita) Boits of South Bend, IN; and sister, Barbara (Larry Oliver) Callaway of Black Mountain, NC .

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Boits of South Bend.

Michael graduated from Riley High School in 1976. Michael was employed at Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. for over 30 years as a Production Manager/Scheduler. He was an avid golfer, who played in the Annual Notre Dame "Coaches vs. Cancer" golf outing every year. He was an EXPERT tailgater at Notre Dame football games, and attended many Notre Dame basketball games. He loved the Cubs, and listened to Frank Sinatra. On March 1, 1995, he was presented with a "Special Deputy" badge within the police department of St. Joseph County. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, October 2, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN, and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. A Christian Burial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Little Flower Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
