Lois Jeannette (Jackson) Tolle

Lois Jeannette (Jackson) Tolle was born in South Bend, Ind. on Oct. 30, 1915.

She graduated from Riley High School 1933 and from Manchester College in 1937. Returning to school for a Master's Degree in speech pathology, Jeannette met Wilmer Tolle. Jeannette and Wilmer were married on June 7, 1941 at the First Church of the Brethren in South Bend.

Jeannette was a devoted mother, always willing to share her skills in parenting through volunteer work: as a story lady for the public library, with Planned Parenthood, and hosting five international exchange students, She was an advocate of women's right to choose when to become a mother. Jeannette will also be remembered for her lifetime service to the Church of the Brethren. She held the distinction of being the first woman moderator for the Northern Indiana District of the Church. Wilmer and Jeannette moved to Columbus, Ohio when Jeannette needed assistance due to Alzheimer's. She died in Columbus, Sept. 24, 1996.

She is survived by her husband, Wilmer; and their four children, Gordon of Brookings, S.D., Duane of Columbus, Ohio, Kay of Silver Springs, Md. and Roger of New York, N.Y; their spouses. eight grandchildren; and son-in law, David Alley of Statesboro, Ga.

She was preceded in death two months earlier by her daughter. Holly.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996, at 1 p.m., in the New Covenant Church of the Brethren, 2309 Summit View, Powell, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family, asks that memorial gifts be give!, to the Alzheimer's Association or Manchester College.
