Mary (Tomsits) Hooten

SOUTH BEND - Mary Tomsits Hooten, age 94, of Shaire Center Drive, Lenoir, NC, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Shaire Center. She was born November 30, 1914 in South Bend, Indiana to the late John and Agnes Shoemaker Tomsits. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Terrence Hooten; two brothers; and two sisters.

Mrs. Hooten was a retired claims processor for Chicago Title & Trust Company and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Warren L. Hooten of Lenoir; one son, James Edward Hooten and wife Anne of Englewood, Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Withem and husband Tom of Lenoir and Ms. Mary Jo Mason of Belen, New Mexico; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Matthew Leonard, Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in Indiana at a later date.
