SOUTH BEND - Mabel Ellen (Boberg) Lorincz, 90, passed away peacefully at 12:27 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at home after a lengthy illness. She was born in South Bend to Julius and Anna Boberg on October 17, 1920.

A graduate of Riley High School in 1938, Mabel worked as a bookkeeper at Super Par. She was good at balancing checkbooks and managed funds for many organizations through the years. She was the caregiver for all of her family and also worked various temporary jobs.

Mabel was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #569, a member of the former Beaucant and Ladies Auxillary of Avalon Grotto, serving as an officer throughout many years. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards with friends.

On January 25, 1949, she married Frank C. Lorincz, and they enjoyed many good times. They were married 50 years before Frank passed away on April 14, 1991.

Mabel will be greatly missed by her daughters, Carol Benninghoff of Newton, KS, and Sandra (Bob) Deavers of South Bend; her dear caregiver, Bobbie Reams of South Bend; her five grandchildren, of whom she was very proud, Deenna (Mike) Eley, Dodi Ward, Lisa (Bill) Kemph, Daniel (Janelle) Benninghoff and Joel (Kim) Benninghoff; her 14 great-grandchildren, Noah, Joshua and Micah Eley, Brittany and Kaylin Ward, Lauren Kemph, William Kemph, Jessica, Jack, Tyler, Thomas, Jake, Drew and Kathryn Benninghoff; and her sister, Beatrice Poole of Seminole, FL.

Funeral services for Mabel will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, in the Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, with Dr. Gregory V. Poole officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, in the funeral home.
