Doris E. Theuerl, 99 years old, passed away at 8:25 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020 comfortably in County Care West home.  Mrs. Theuerl was born on January 23, 1921 in North Judson, IN to the late John and Ida (Ringhand) Schultz.  She has lived most of her life in South Bend.  On September 30, 1939 in South Bend, Doris and Harry Theuerl were united in marriage.  Harry preceded her in death after 41 years of marriage on March 30, 1980.  Mrs. Theuerl was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Harold Mead; four sisters, Elsie Metz, Lydia Laramore, Edna Enders and Edith Reed; and two brothers, Clarence and Harold Schultz.

Mrs. Theuerl is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Judy Theuerl of South Bend and her granddaughter, Jessica and Benjamin Krucina of Seattle, WA. Doris loved her family very much and spent a lot of time with Jessica while she was being raised.  She taught Jessica her love for the outdoors, nature, and horticulture.  Mrs. Theuerl enjoyed helping others and while in good health, visited the elderly and shut-in members of her church.  She enjoyed her visits from her good church friend, Thea Flowers.  

A Celebration of Doris’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, South Bend.  She will be buried next to her husband at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend following the service. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.
