Bernice M. (VanMeter) Norris
Bernice M. Norris Sept. 5, 1920 - July 12, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Bernice M. Norris, 94, residing in South Bend, passed away at 9:59 am Sunday, July 12, 2015 in Healthwin Specialized Care. She was born September 5, 1920 in Fulton County to the late Clarence and Ruth (Sedam) Van Meter, and was a lifelong resident of the South Bend area. Bernice was married to Harry A. Norris, who preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded by her only sibling, Virge Van Meter.
Bernice is survived by four daughters, Judy Forrer of Granger, Debra Divietro of Goshen, Barb Sisk of Niles, MI and Marge Roberts of Buchanan, MI; eight grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Bernice was a graduate of Riley High School and an active member of the Riley High School Alumni Association. She enjoyed genealogy and was often responsible for finding contact information for Riley High School reunions. Bernice was also a member of Eastern Star and retired after 32 years as a secretary from the University of Notre Dame.
Funeral services for Bernice will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in Grass Creek Cemetery, Kewanna, IN. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to services Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be donated to the Activities Department at Healthwin Specialized Care, 20531 Darden Road, South Bend, IN 46637.
