Bernadell J. "Bernie"(Anderson) Parker

June 19, 1921 ~ September 14, 2021 (age 100)

Bernadell J. Parker, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away at The Pendle Home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the age of 100.  She was born in South Bend on June 19, 1921 to Benjamin Reeves and Mardell (Miller) Anderson.  Bernadell was a graduate of Riley High School and went on to work as a secretary for Reliance/Dodges Electric Company where she retired in 1982 after 25 years.

Bernie was raised in South Bend and in 1956, her family moved to a farm in Madison Township to raise their family.  She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and attended St. John’s Church of Christ.  She had a love of shopping and enjoyed spending the winters in Venice, FL.

On June 23, 1945 in South Bend, Bernadell was united in marriage to Marvin R. Parker, who preceded her in death on August 7, 2003.  From that union they had two wonderful daughters.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Parker of Elkhart, Indiana and Mary Jo (Ted) Tschirhart of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Wendy Linton of Dayton, Ohio and Greg Linton of Orland Park, Kansas; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  Bernadell was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Reeves and Mardell (Miller) Anderson; her husband, Marvin R. Parker; and her brother, Clinton Anderson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to The Pendle Home for their wonderful care of Bernie.  The family atmosphere they provided, along with the Filipino food, and the hair clips they gave made her time there very special.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Venice, Florida at a later date.  Palmer Funeral Home – River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
