SOUTH BEND - Cecilia K. Reiter, 88, of South Bend, passed away at 7:29 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Mrs. Reiter was born on January 4, 1921 in South Bend to the late Matthew and Cecilia Miholick. She has remained a lifelong resident.

On September 14, 1946 in South Bend, she married Robert E. Reiter who survives. Along with her husband, Robert, Cecilia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marianne and Tom Hays of Terre Haute, IN; two grandchildren, Debbie (Todd) Norris of Terre Haute and Tom Hays of Palatine, IL; two great grandchildren, Curtis and Michelle Patrick; one sister, Helen Manuszak of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews.

One sister, Mary Clubine, and three brothers, Matthew, Elmer and Edward Miholick, all preceded in death.

Mrs. Reiter was a graduate of Riley High School and attended Indiana University, Bloomington.

She enjoyed reading, bowling, golf and playing cards. She has been a longtime member of St. Jude's Catholic Church where she served as a volunteer in the office for many years. Mrs. Reiter was a lifetime member of the Women's International Bowling Congress participating in over 25 National championship tournaments. She was inducted into the South Bend/Mishawaka Women's Bowling Hall of Fame and organized St. Jude's Ladies Bowling League. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Rev. John Delaney will celebrate. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. today, June 19th, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend where a rosary will be at 4:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Cecilia K. Reiter may be donated to St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend, IN 46614 or to St. Vincent DePaul Society, 3408 Ardmore Trail, South Bend, IN 46628.
