Stephanie L.Cruz-Martinez, residing on Locust Road, South Bend, passed away at 10:50 a.m.Thursday, January 6, 2005, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, at the age of 21.She was born April 30, 1983, in South Bend, and had remained a lifelong resident. Stephanie graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School and attended Holy Cross College and Indiana University of South Bend, pursuing a degree in child psychology.

She formerly was employed as Hostess/Cashier with Smoky Bones Restaurant, Mishawaka. She is survived by her parents, Julia (Cruz) & Roy Martinez of South Bend;two sisters, Michele (Brent) Ernsberger of Elkhart, and Melinda (Michael) Roemer of St.Cloud, MN;her maternal grandmother, Hortencia Cruz of Wauchula, FL;two nieces, Clarrisa Roemer and Victoria Ernsberger;a nephew, Israel Roemer;and two very special friends, Abigail and Todd, both of South Bend.

Stephanie enjoyed reading and going to the movies.She loved to dance, and always had aspirations to become a dance instructor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 10, in St.Pius X Catholic Church, Granger. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.Saturday, and 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.Sunday in the Palmer Funeral Home- Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, and one hour prior to services Monday in the Church. Contributions in memory of Stephanie L.Cruz-Martinez may be offered to St.Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530.
