Alan V. Davis
Alan V. Davis 71, a resident of North Port, FL, passed away March 15, 2005. Born in Logansport, he graduated from Riley High School (1952) in South Bend and received a BS and MS degree in Education from Purdue University. After serving in the Army, he lived much of his life in Indianapolis where he retired from teaching industrial education in the Washington Township Schools. Alan introduced computer aided drafting into the school district and taught an evening adult class where 25+ beautiful redwood strip canoes were created.
Alan was busy with the Central Indiana Council of Boy Scouts as an Assistant Scout Master, merit badge counselor, and Voyager Program canoe instructor. He was active in the Holiday Rambler RV Club serving in various elected positions as well as the Hoosier Canoe Club.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Goldie; three children, Valerie, Jeffrey and Alan and seven grandchildren.
A private service was held. Arrangements have been attended to by Ewing Funeral home, Venice FL. Memorial contributions for Alan can be made to: Kathleen Catlin Friendship Center, 2350 Scenic Drive, Venice, FL 34293.
