Marilyn Sue (Helm) Winter
Redmond, Oregon Sue Winter was born on February 23, 1934. Sue passed away on October 12, 2015, at her home in Redmond, Oregon. She was 81. Sue was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, where she also graduated from Riley High School June 1952. Sue married Walter C. Winter on the 26 of August 1961. Sue had one child at the time Deborah Sue Ryon. Sue did office work. In her early years she was mainly a homemaker.
Sue was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 44 for 44 years, serving as president three times. She was District #5 President twice. She served on several Department, District, and local Committees; both state and national. At the time of her death she belonged to Cabane #222 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Sue like to bowl, work cross word puzzles, crochet afghans using the broomstick method. One of her main interests was the Girl’s State Program of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Walter Winter of Redmond, Oregon; daughter, Deborah Sue Ballard; three grandsons; Derek Ballard, Michael Brazier, and Joshua Brazier; two great grandson’s, Jaden Ballard, Dylen Ballard; and one great-granddaughter, April Ballard; and her best friend since grade school, Claudine Finney of Black Rock Arkansas.
Preceded by three sisters, Lois Mickels, E. Marceil Helm, Elizabeth M. Helm; one brother, Ronald C. Helm; her father, George C. Helm; and her mother, Vera D. Helm.
