Lloyd A. Heiser

LAKEVILLE - Lloyd A. “Arnie” Heiser, 91, residing in Lakeville, IN, went home to be with the Lord at 9:24 a.m Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was born January 4, 1926, in Hamlet, IN, a son of Earl D. & Lucy M. (Sour) Heiser, and had lived in this community all of his life.

He was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School, South Bend, and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 during WW II. He was honorably discharged on June 17, 1946.

On August 22, 1948, at the Central E.U.B. Church, South Bend, he was united in marriage to Loretta H. Guzicki. He is survived by his loving wife Loretta of 68 years. Also surviving are his daughter, Beverly (Leonard) Copeland of North Liberty, IN; his two sons, Les (Joan) Heiser, and Glen (Cheryl) Heiser, all of South Bend. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Curtis Copeland, Kira (RJ) Hicks, Jessica (Nathan) Aurand, Emily (Michael) McClain, Jared (Ciji) Heiser, Brian (Ben) Heiser, and Stacey (Justin) Cunio; along with fifteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Leota Hamilton of Greenville, SC, and Grace (Paul) Bartholomew of Waxhaw, NC. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hawley.

Mr. Heiser retired in 1982 from B.P. Oil Company where he was employed for 35 years. He was a longtime attender of Community Baptist Church. There wasn't much he couldn't do. He built his own home, including all the cabinets in the house as well. He loved to carve birds from wood, and just about anything else he could think of. He also made several grandfather clocks. For many years, he was a pitcher for various softball teams, and played volleyball with the Battell Center in Mishawaka.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, at Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Road, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, and one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.
