SOUTH BEND - Norman L. Lindstedt, 86, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in Memorial Hospital. Norman was born on February 11, 1924, in South Bend. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Minnie Lindstedt; a brother, Ernest Lindstedt Jr.; and a sister, Joan Glaser. Norman is survived by his cousin, Lois Campbell of South Bend, IN; a niece, Terry (George) Donze of Granger; a nephew, John (Tammy) Lindstedt of Niles, MI; a nephew, David (Susan) Glaser of Dunedin, FL; and eight great-grandnieces/nephews.

Norman was a graduate of Riley High School in 1942.

He served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. After returning back to South Bend, he was employed at Studebaker Motor Corporation as their photographer until the company closed during 1965. He was a member of various professional photographer associations and gained recognition for his creative and innovative techniques. During this time of his life, he was also a member of the Studebaker Men's Chorus and Presbyterian Players. He would supplement his income taking various wedding photographs and completing the developing and printing in his personal dark room.

Norman was employed at Miles Laboratories as their Industrial photographer from 1966 until his retirement in 1982. He was a Notre Dame usher for almost 50 years until he retired from such in 2002. Norman was a member of the Studebaker Drivers Club and the American Legion. Norman was a lifetime member of the New Apostolic Church, sang in the choir, and assisted in other various duties and capacities. He was a thoughtful and devoted person to his family, especially his nephew, David, who looked to him as a father figure.

"Loss leaves us empty - but learn not to close your heart and mind in grief. Allow life to replenish you. When sorrow comes it seems impossible - but new joys wait to fill the void."

A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, in New Apostolic Church, South Bend, 5602 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN.
