SOUTH BEND - Katherine A. Johnson (Kirk) (Cook), 61, of South Bend, IN, died on September 17, 2012. She passed due to complications from pneumonia at Memorial Hospital. She was born in South Bend, IN to J.C. & Helen Kirk on April 11, 1951, attended Riley High School, received her BBA from Indiana University Bloomington and her MBA from IUSB.

Katherine retired from AM General. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, traveling and playing with her grandson.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Johnson; son, Alexander (Krista) Cook; grandson, Cameron; mother, Helen Kirk; brother John (Di) Kirk; nephew, Adam (Amber) Kirk; great-nephew, Michael; cousins, Susan (David) Chrzan, Andrew (Tammy) Riddle, Lisa (Dean) Adams, Charles Price, and Victoria (Dennis) Morey; and aunt, Yetta S. Price.

Katherine was preceded in death by her father, J.C. Kirk, and her aunt, Dora.

Service arrangements are pending and a date is still to be determined, but will be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her name to the St. Joseph County Public Library. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
