LAKEVILLE - Margaret “Marge” Davis, 88, of Lakeville, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, with her daughters by her side.

She was born on January 8, 1929, in South Bend, and raised by the late Elmer and Clara (Van De Voorde) Kurzhal.

On November 24, 1978, in South Bend, she married Robert M. Davis, Jr., who preceded her in death on July 6, 2013. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristi A. Morris, stepson, Richard M. Davis, two sisters, Annette M. Simmons and Eleanor Monahan, and two brothers, Antone “Tony” and Lucian “Red” Lambert.

Marge is survived by her four daughters, Julie A. (Jack) Pejza, Margie Y. (Rick) Wasoski, both of South Bend, Jodie S. Van Nevel of Fairhope, AL, and Cindee L. (Bob) Bigsby of Foley, AL; a stepdaughter, Kathy (DJ) West of Niles, MI; sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by a sister, Lorraine M. Van De Wielle of South Bend; and a brother, Charles A. (Pauline) Lambert of South Bend.

Marge began her working years and was joined by her four siblings at Bonnie Doons Ice Cream Shop. She worked for 20 years for Radio Equipment then on to the front office at Koontz Wagner Electric, where she was honored in 1988 as Woman of the Year. While at Koontz Wagner she planned semi-annual theater dinner trips to Chicago for the employees' family and friends.

During the 1980's she was a volunteer facilitator for American Cancer Society and was so happy to help. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, sewing, dancing, and going camping with her family.

Marge truly “loved her neighbors” young and old, near and far. When her girls would bring their friends over, who were always welcome, she treated them as her own. Marge will be greatly missed by so many.

Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, July 1st, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel,” located at State Road 23/W. Ireland Road, South Bend. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home, with Fr. Julius Okojie, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

A heartfelt thanks to the Mary B Home, Randa Cox and her employees for their loving care of our Mom.
