Imogene (Page) Rupel

Oct. 1, 1927 - June 5, 2016

ELKHART - Imogene Rupel, 88, of Elkhart, died Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Hubbard Hill Estates. Imogene was born on October 1, 1927, to Gilmore and Goldie (Fry) Page in Clarksville, MO.

She graduated from Riley High School in South Bend in 1945. She worked at Wygant's Florist where she met the love of her life in 1946 when he returned home from WWII. She married Keith on June 27, 1947. They would have had 69 wonderful years together.

She is survived by her husband, Keith E. Rupel, and daughter, Sandra L. Gentry. Also by three granddaughters, grandson, three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Goldie Freeman, and father, Gilmore L. Page, sister, Jenny Voigt, and her son, Gary E. Rupel.

Imogene helped build two homes in eight years. She was a mother, housewife, secretary and bookkeeper for Keith's business, REPCO. She made floral arrangements every Christmas as gifts to their best customers. She loved to garden.

She played cards, her favorite being bridge. She was an avid golfer until shoulder injuries forced her to stop playing. Imo's favorite vacation was a trip to the Smokey Mountains in the fall. Imo and Keith attended many football and basketball (men and women) games at Purdue. They also attended several Bowl Games. Imo loved the Chicago Cubs. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Four Lakes Country Club and John Purdue Club.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hubbard Hill for their wonderful care of Imogene.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 pm Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 am Friday, June 10, 2016, at the funeral home. The Reverend Ted Stanley of Trinity Lutheran Church of Elkhart will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
