Kyle A. Mortakis

SOUTH BEND - Kyle A. Mortakis, 28, of South Bend, IN, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016. He was born on February 11, 1988, in South Bend, IN, to Tarne and Donna Mortakis. Kyle is survived by his parents, Tarne and Donna (Cox) Mortakis, his two brothers, Gaige (Katie) Mortakis and their son, Braxton, and Kyle adored his nephew, and Tarne Mortakis Jr.; his paternal grandmother, Phyllis Mortakis and maternal grandmother, Violet Cox. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Kyle was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Peter Chris Mortakis; and his maternal grandfather, Owen E. Cox, Jr.

Kyle graduated from Riley High School in 2006. He was proud of his Greek heritage. Kyle was employed with his father and his two brothers where they just changed the name of the company to Custom Concrete and Sons. He was very proud to be a part of the family business. Kyle loved the outdoors and especially being around animals. He was always bringing all of the strays home. Kyle enjoyed his motorcycles and restoring old cars. He enjoyed watching and playing basketball and was known for his 3-point shot. He was an amazing, talented artist and loved to draw. One of his biggest passions in life was his music and he was very gifted in making his own music. Kyle loved his girlfriend, Anita Fuentes, very much and she had a huge impact on his life. Kyle was the type of person who accepted everyone and he was always so thoughtful and caring. His selfless personality was admired by many. He will truly be missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, July 11, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. A funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Deeds officiating.
