SOUTH BEND - Norman Eugene Collmer, 88, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away Monday, February 20, 2017. He was born in South Bend, IN and attended Riley HS. Upon graduation, Norman enlisted in the US Army during World War II and was stationed in Japan. After his return from the Army, he joined the South Bend Police Department where he proudly served for 20 years. After retirement from the Police Department, he and his wife, Loretta, moved to Fort Myers where he took a position with the Lee County School Board as the Director of Maintenance Services until retirement.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Loretta. He is survived by 3 children Cathie (Dennis) Harshman of Nashville TN, Randy (Cinda) Collmer of Fort Myers, FL and Lori Spiczka of Cape Coral, FL; 4 grandchildren Robb (Dawn) Ebel, Andrew (Kelly) Ebel, Ryan (Nichole) Collmer and Leanne (Chad) Thompson, and 5 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, February 24th at Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral, FL. at 11:30am. There will be a public viewing from 9:30am to 11:30am.
