SOUTH BEND - Robert LeRoy Frick, 87 years old, passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the West Bend Nursing Home, South Bend. Mr. Frick was born on August 5, 1930 in South Bend to the late LeRoy and Eva Marie (Hummer) Frick. He has remained a lifelong resident. On April 17, 1955 in South Bend, Robert and Betty L. Plummer were united in marriage.

Along with Betty, his loving wife of 62 years, Robert is survived by their two children, Laura L. Golubski of South Bend and David L. (Linda) Frick of South Bend; five grandchildren, Mark L. Frick, Bill Shinall, James Golubski, Thomas Golubski, Jr., and Timothy Golubski; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Robert was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Thomas R. Golubski; and two granddaughters, Candace Mason and Jamie Wagers.

Mr. Frick was employed as an accountant for several companies over the years, including, National Cash Register, Ernie's Grocery Store, Al's Butcher Block, Gates Chevrolet, and Pike Admiral Furniture. He also formerly worked at Studebaker Corporation and was a lifelong farmer. After retiring from N.C.R., Robert worked at Southlawn Cemetery and Galloway Mortgage Company. He was a graduate of Riley High School, Purdue University, and studied a semester at the University of Notre Dame. Robert also attended South Bend College of Commerce. He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army. Mr. Frick was a member of the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair, Rural Youth, Hoosier A Ford Club, Centre Township Lion's Club, and a longtime member of the V.F.W.

Robert and Betty lived for going to tractor and engine shows spanning from Florida to Michigan with a close circle of friends from around the country. His restored Speedex Tractor with his dog, Jake, riding on it alone was always a main attraction and was featured in numerous papers and magazines throughout the Southeast. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, stopping all work to watch the football games. Robert was always on the go, never sitting still for a minute. He never hesitated to take time to help out family, friends, or neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Military graveside services will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, August 25th, at the funeral home.
