Albert L Flack Jr.

Word has been received of the death of Albert Flack Jr., 71, of Englewood Isle, Fla., formerly of South Bend, who died at 1:42 a.m. . Saturday in Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla. Cremation has taken place in Florida. Memorial Services will be at a later date in South Bend. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in South Bend He also was a member of South Bend Elks Lodge 235 where he served as exalted ruler, district deputy and state director of Indiana Elks Association. He was a member of F di AM 45, a charter member of Sahib Shrine Club, a member of Venice Shrine Club and Venice Yacht Club in Venice, Fla.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army in the 394th Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater. Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Elks Cancer Fund or to the Shrine Crippled Children's hospital of Tampa, Fla.

Mr. Flack worked with his father and his brother in the wholesale tobacco business for forty years. He also was the vice president of the Flack Cigar Company until he retired in 1970. He was born on June 8, 1914, in South Bend, moving to Englewood in 1975.

In 1935, he married the former Virginia Michael and she died in 1964. In 1965, in South Bend, he married the former Virginia Harmon Smith, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Sue Gantt of Elkhart; a son, Albert L. Flack III of South Bend; two step-daughters, Sandra Patillo and Marsha Snyder, both of South Bend; a stepson, Steven H. Smith of South Bend; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Ronald D. Flack of Naples, Fla.
