Waneta (Butterbaugh) Jackson 

JACKSON Waneta (Butterbaugh) Waneta (Butterbaugh) Jackson, of Toledo, OH, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at Swan Creek, at the age of 91. Born March 25, 1915 in Nappanee, Indiana, to Charles and Bessie (Wysong) Butterbaugh.

She moved to South Bend, IN, where she graduated in 1933, from Riley High School.

Waneta composed the words and music to the class song and was a music lover all her life. She attended Manchester College, North Manchester, IN. Waneta started piano lessons at age 7 years, and played for two choirs at college. She married John W. Jackson, "the love of my life" on January 18, 1936, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and moved to Toledo in 1936.

She was employed by Midwest Haulers as secretary and telephone operator, a secretary at American Propellor Plant, secretary to the Personnel director at Willys Motors, and was a real estate sales person for six years. Waneta was a member of the Monroe Street United Methodist Church, Toledo, since 1952, and was a church organist for four years. She attended Builder's Sunday School class and later, Searcher's class. Waneta was a member of the Toledo Rose Society. She moved to Swan Creek Retirement Village in 1994, and played for the "Swan Creek Singers", since 1995.

Waneta is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bessie (Wysong) Butterbaugh; husband, John Jackson; son, Jeffrey Jackson, and sister, Virginia Worley, Birmingham, AL.

Waneta is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lynn Jackson, of Cornwall, England; grandchildren, Natalie (Mike) Laesch, Adrienne Jackson-Koliba, Brian Jackson; great-grandchildren, Shonny Jackson-Hicks, Treve Jackson-Hicks, Jay Jackson-Hicks, John Segura, Joshua Laesch and Carley Laesch and niece, Suzanne (John) Benton.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., Toledo. A memorial service will be held at Monroe Street United Methodist Church, 3613 Monroe St., Toledo, on Wednesday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, Indiana.
