SOUTH BEND - Robert Lee Washington Jr., affectionately known as "Punkin," 33, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2013, in Chicago Medical Center. He was born on January 15, 1980, to the union of Robert Sr. and Doris Washington in South Bend, Indiana. Punkin was a graduate of Riley High School and a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
For his many activities, Punkin enjoyed playing baseball at Southside Little League; running track and playing basketball at Riley High School; and skating at USA Roller Rink. As an adult, he loved to restore cars and houses; playing video games; going to the casinos with family and friends.
He was loved by so many friends who thought of him as a brother. Punkin leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Doris Washington; one daughter, Lexus; two sisters: Gina (Doug) Gary of South Bend, Indiana, and LaShawna Stewart of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Terry Washington of South Bend; his "little dude," Larry; his "little roadies," Dominique, Demetrius and Ian; a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins too numerous to name.
Punkin was preceded in death by his father, Robert Washington Sr.; his maternal grandparents, King and Lucy Smith; maternal step-grandmother, Odessa Smith; paternal grandparents, Willie and Maple (Washington) Brooks; and step-grandfather, Dave Brooks.
Funeral services for Robert Lee Washington Jr. will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and service at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
