David S. Greene
David S. Greene Jan. 26, 1938 - June 21, 2014 MISHAWAKA - David S. Greene, 76, passed away at 6:08 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. David was born on January 26, 1938, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Edward R. Greene and Bernice (Gloye) Wollen, and haD been a lifelong resident of this area, graduating from Riley High School.
David proudly served our country in the United States Marines.
On September 26, 1959, in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Rose (Parks) Greene.
David worked for ten years at Uniroyal Corporation of Mishawaka, ten years at Redi Froze of South Bend, and ten years at Thermoplastics of Mishawaka, before retiring in 2000. He loved his family, especially his many grandchildren, and was a "father figure" to many of them. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching sports on TV, and was a big fan of Notre Dame football and basketball, and the Chicago Cubs.
Along with his loving wife, Rose Greene of Mishawaka, he is survived by his daughter, Lorena "Lorrie" (Bob) Henry of Oviedo, FL; sons, Blaine A. Greene (Kim) of Mishawaka and Edward S. Greene (Vicky) of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Kristin Henry, Christina Greene, Jennifer Henry, David (Katie) Greene, Brandie Greene Paige Greene; and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Randall B. (Cheryl) Greene of Granger and Darrell J. (Doren) Greene of Fountain, CO; sister-in-law, Kathy Greene of South Bend. David was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edward R. Greene and Barry A. Greene.
Funeral services for David S. Greene will be 6:00 PM today, June 23, 2014, at Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615, where friends may visit with the family two hours prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miller's Vets, 747 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601; or to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
