Denise (Davis) Strong-Jones
August 30, 1956 - October 6, 2013
SOUTH BEND - To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. On Sunday, October 6th, at Memorial Hospital, Denise Renee Strong-Jones left her earthly body. She was 57 years old. Denise was born August 30, 1956, in South Bend, IN, to the late John Edward Davis and the late Eva Mae Reid.
She was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School and was employed by the Transportation Department of South Bend Community School Corporation for several years.
At an early age Denise gave her life to Christ, remaining faithful throughout her days. Denise was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, and friend. Those who knew her best will remember her warm smile and passion for life.
Denise is survived by a daughter, LaTeesha Denise (Terrance) Wright, and son, F. Jerome (Crystal-Marie) Jones lll; sisters, Donna (Allen) Gary and Rochelle (Roy) Williams; and brothers, Lamar (Pamela) Strong, Andre Strong, Daryl Reid and Jermaine Davis. Denise was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Terrance Grant, Jr., Tyler Grant (preceded her in death), Terraell Rice, Timothy Grant, Jerome Jayden-Lee Jones, and Malik Jerome Jones.
The funeral service for Ms. Jones is at 12 noon Friday, October 11, with visitation from 10:30 am until service time at Cobb Funeral Home, 3525 S. Michigan St. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Cobb Funeral Home (www.cobbfuneralhomes.com) is assisting the family with arrangements.
