Gene A. Lundstrom

AUBURN — Gene A. Lundstrom, 86, of Auburn died Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born May 10, 1928, in South Bend, the son of Andrew and Ruth Lundstrom.

He attended Riley High School, South Bend, and graduated from ACME School of Technology, South Bend. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany for two years and then after his honorable discharge, he joined the 38th Infantry Division of the Indiana Army Nation Guard for three years.

He was a tool and die designer and drafter, working at Auburn Gear. He was a member of the Hoosier War Birds and Mishawaka Pilots Club.

Survivors include a niece, Kristine Gordon Shaffer of Niles, Michigan; a nephew, Larry (Ann) Lundstrom of Winfield, Illinois; a great-nephew, Jason Michael (fiancé, Holly Putman) Gordon of South Bend; two great-nieces, Kristi (Ron) Gordon Pickens of Dowagiac, Michigan, and Laura Lynn Lundstrom of Winfield, Illinois; two great-great-nieces, Blanca Helena Pickens and Kaylee Elizabeth Gordon; a great-great-nephew, Conner Ray Pickens; three cousins, Cathryn Dean of Canon City, Colorado, Julie Dean and Mark Dewart; his neighbors and buddy, Matt and Erin Shamblin and their son Hunter; and friends, Tom Days, Lydia and Rex Watson, Larry Stone, Phyllis Warner and Don and Jane Slane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ruth Lundstrom; brothers and sisters-in-law, Delmar H. and Clara Lundstrom and Richard D. and Helen Lundstrom.

No services will be held at this time. Memorials may be made to Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, or the Hoosier Air Museum, where he was a dedicated volunteer. Arrangements are by Pinnington-McComb Funeral & Cremation Services, Auburn.
