Gerald L Tesch - Class Of 1947 VIEW PROFILE

Gerald Tesch

Oct. 9, 1928 - May 1, 2009
SOUTH BEND - Gerald L. Tesch, 80, of Poinciana, FL, passed away on May 1, 2009, at home with his wife and friends at his side. Gerald was born October 9, 1928, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Harold and Eleanor (Berg) Tesch. Gerald had one sister, Shirley Faye Alt, who preceded him in death.

Gerald was raised in South Bend, Indiana, and attended Riley High School.

He served in the USMC from 1946 to 1948. He was retired from the Mishawaka Fire Department after 20 years of service from 1955 to 1975. Gerald also owned and operated Jerry's Appliance Repair. In 1986 he retired to Florida where he enjoyed golfing and working extensively on the Tesch Family History. He began as an amateur genealogist and was soon praised by experts for his documented evidence of Tesch Family History which dated back to the 1600s.

His passion was golf and he had five documented holes-in-one. He says it was not due to his skill but because of luck and the amount of hours, days and weeks spent on the golf course.

His survivors include his wife of 44 years, Norma J. (Murphy) Tesch; four children, Deborah D. (Tesch) McNagny of Fort Wayne, IN, Kevin Tesch of South Carolina, Janine E. (Tesch) Wood of South Bend, IN, and Lisa A. Tesch Loran of Fort Wayne, IN; 10 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. There will be private services only.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to GRISSOM FUNERAL HOME in Kissimmee, FL. Donations may be made to the Pediatric Department at St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, IN.
