Charles "Charlie" Leroy Schosker Sr., a man known for his courage and selflessness, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2023, at the Ernestine Raclin House in Mishawaka, IN. Born on June 23, 1934, in South Bend, IN, Charlie was a steadfast pillar of his family and community, embodying a spirit of dedication and service throughout his life.

Charlie was the cherished son of the late Henry and Nellie (Elkins) Schosker. He shared a loving and fulfilling married life with his beloved wife, Doloris Hushower, whom he married on July 16, 1960, in Buchanan, MI. He was a devoted father to Mary Ann Schosker (Walter Trzop) of South Bend, IN, and Charles Leroy Schosker Jr. (Diana) of New Carlisle, IN. Charlie was a proud grandfather to Earl Henry Schosker (Aly), and step-grandson Tony Ulmer (Diana). He also derived great joy from his great-grandchildren, Blaine and Maddie Ulmer.

Charlie was a proud alumnus of Riley High School.

His dedication to service was evident early on, as he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably from 1957-1959. His spirit of community service continued to shine through his work with the German Township Fire Department, where he served for 23 years, including a commendable term as Fire Chief from 1980-1985. Charlie also contributed seven valuable years to the Bertrand Fire Department in Buchanan, MI. In addition to his service in the fire departments, Charlie was a loyal employee at Sibley's Foundry, where he worked for an impressive 53 years.

Beyond his work and service, Charlie was deeply involved in his local community. He was an active participant in the German Township Boy Scouts, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and leadership among the younger generation. He also supported the Chet Waggoner Little League, where he cheered on the budding athletes with enthusiasm. Charlie was an avid bowler and enjoyed his time in the Sibley's Bowling League. His love for cars found a special place in the Studebaker Club, where he was a proud member. One of Charlie's unique interests was his ownership of a 1946 Studebaker fire truck.

Charlie’ s life was a tapestry of service, testament to his strength, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his enduring legacy. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life and the countless ways he touched the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, September 23, 2023 with a visitation one hour prior at Palmer Funeral Home – Welsheimer North Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Rd. South Bend, IN 46635.
