Jean McAlpine

May 16, 1896 – Nov. 26, 1974

 

Miss Jean McAlpine, 78, of the Morningside Hotel, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital after a short Illness.

Miss McAlpine was a home economics teacher at Riley High School, retiring in 1960 after 33 years. Born May 16, 1896 in Marinette, Wis., she had lived here since 1929, coming from Chicago. Surviving are two cousins.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. Williams, Rev. Daniel W. Fowler, D.D., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Entombment will be in the Riverview Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Miss McAlpine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; the Chapter N. PEO Sisterhood; the Schulyer Colfax Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; the Saturday Club, and the Indiana and National Retired Teachers associations.

Memorial contributions may be made to the PEO scholarship fund or the Circle One of the First Presbyterian Church.
