Ryan Eugene Schrader

Ryan Eugene Schrader, 78, of South Bend, passed away on December 24, 2025, surrounded by his wife, children, several grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Ryan was born on August 05, 1947, in South Bend to Roland “Bud” Schrader and Mary Ann (Kalisak) Schrader. He remained a lifelong resident of the South Bend area.

Ryan graduated from Riley High School in 1965.

As a journeyman, he worked in Tool & Die and metal stamping throughout his career, holding positions at Parrish Machine Company, Capitol Technologies, Alumni Tool & Die, Huckins Tool & Die, and E.W.I – Mishawaka Stamping. He later founded AAA Stamping Company and retired from Heng Manufacturing. Ryan was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and dedication to his craft which was evidenced in the loyalty of the customers he worked with through his long career.

He was married to Patricia Susan (Brant) Schrader. Ryan enjoyed fishing, building things, cards, hunting, cars, roller coasters, and football. He was also instrumental in helping establish and bring the Sertoma Club to the South Bend community.

Surviving is his wife, Patricia “Patty” Schrader, and his children: Laurie M. LaDow (Kurt) of South Bend; Theresa “Reese” Renner of Mishawaka; and Timothy Zerbel (Mary Jo) of Mishawaka. He is also survived by his grandchildren—Jessica (Perkins) Forsyth, Jonathan Ward, Jaina Renner, Karley (LaDow) Ullery, Joshua Renner, Brandon Kiser, and Grace Leona Zerbel—as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Roland “Bud” Schrader (April 20th, 1983) and Mary Ann (Kalisak) Schrader (April 12th, 1997); his daughter, Jill L. Kiser (March 20, 2002); and his brother, Randall E. Schrader (April 14, 2022).

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hanley & Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Road 23, South Bend, IN 46614. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial will take place immediately afterward at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend. A meal and time for fellowship will be provided following the burial at American Legion Post 357, 5414 W. Sample Street, South Bend, IN 46619.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any organization connected to any Sertoma Club, Right to Life, Wounded Veterans, Hospice, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the friends and relatives who supported them during Ryan’s final days and after his passing, as well as to Elkhart General Hospital, Heart to Heart Hospice of Elkhart, and Hanley & Sons Funeral Home for their compassionate care and assistance.
