Phyllis Ellen (Blackburn) Steele
January 1, 1939 ~ March 6, 2026
Phyllis Ellen Steele, 87 of South Bend Indiana peacefully passed away on Friday, March 6th 2026, in Bonita Springs, Florida. Leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories, Phyllis definitely lived her beautiful life to the fullest. She joined Indiana Board of Realtors in 1973 and served on several committees including: Governmental Affairs, Grievance, Professional Standards, and continuing education. Owner/Broker of Independence Realty during which she built several homes acting as General Contractor. Phyllis was a delegate for the Indiana Democratic Party, and campaigned for Hillary Clinton. (As an added bonus, made Hillary earrings) Traveling was her utmost passion, she traveled to several countries throughout the world. Phyllis was a Member of Unity Church in both South Bend, Indiana and Naples, Florida.
Above all else, her greatest pride and deepest love was her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Wayne, best mother ever, Edna Self, and her brother, Eugene Blackburn (Mary). She is survived by her favorite daughter, Crystal and son Mark (Jennifer). Grandchildren, Patrick (Amani) and Ryan, and Great-grandchildren, Sophia, Mackenzie and Lucas.
Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and a plethora of achievements. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit remains.
Mom has always stated she wants a party, NOT a funeral, so that is exactly what we are going to do... Please join us for Phyllis Steele's Celebration of Life at Bar Louie's Granger, Indiana on April 12th: From 2 PM till 6 PM.
