Edith “Edie” J. (Kleitz) Grubbs

Edith “Edie” J. Grubbs, 89, died 10:42 a.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025, at The Waters of Wakarusa. She was born December 17, 1935, in South Bend, to Oscar & Ethel (Reproggle) Kleitz. She married George E. Grubbs and he preceded her in death.

 Surviving are sons, Greg E. Grubbs, Wakarusa & Gary E. Grubbs, Bremen, 6 grandchildren, Jason, Lesley, Kristin, Bryan, Josh & Jessica and 8 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, George, daughter, Linda Gavros, and 10 siblings, Marvin Kleitz, Edna Russel, Goldie Benson, Mary Seggerman, Anna Joy, Carrie Hayden, Della Owens Runnels, Dave Kleitz, Pearl Seggerman & Delbert Kleitz.

Edie was a waitress for 35 years, mostly in South Bend. She also worked at various convenience stores in the area. Edie attended the Bible Baptist Church and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her family and started the Kleitz family reunions in 1980.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, February 28, 2025, all at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor David Harper will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be to the Red Hat Society, checks made payable to Cherie Rogers and mailed to 62550 Ash Road, Wakarusa, IN 46573.
