Connie J. Young, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at 8:55 am on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Tanglewood Trace Senior Living in Mishawaka. Born on October 1, 1937, in Danville, IL, Connie's life was marked by love, and a vibrant spirit that touched all who knew her.
Connie was born in Danville, IL and was the daughter of the late Bennett Wiebusch and Dorothy (Lamar) Cukrowicz, and was lovingly raised with the guidance of her step-father, Ernest Cukrowicz. Her family grew to include her beloved husband, James D. Young, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2025. Together, they built a life filled with joy and cherished memories.
Connie's legacy is carried on by her devoted daughter, Jeri (Bruce) Ulrickson, son, Dennis (Cori) Micek and stepson, Jay (Nicole) Young. Her love will forever be reflected in the lives of her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Moffett and Linda Lamar and many close friends and other relatives.
Professionally, Connie was a dedicated employee at Bendix Corporation for 26 years, where she not only contributed her skills but also formed lasting friendships. Following her tenure at Bendix, she served as a US Probation Clerk for 9 years, retiring in 2000. Her work ethic and commitment to her roles were evident to all who worked alongside her.
Connie's involvement with the Bendix Women's Club showcased her leadership and passion for community. As the editor of the Bendix retirees newsletter, she kept her colleagues informed and connected. Her volunteer work with the Morris Civic reflected her love for the arts and her desire to give back to the community that she held dear.
A true social butterfly, Connie was a cherished member of Riley's Lunch Bunch, a group that shared laughter and companionship over many meals. Her love for Elvis' music was well-known, and she found joy in the performances of Elvis impersonators, which always managed to bring a smile to her face.
A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Connie's life will be held at 11 am on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service to share memories and support each other during this time of remembrance.
