In Memory
Charles "Chuck” Arch, Jr.
December 11, 1934 ~ February 10, 2025 90 Years Old
Charles “Chuck” Arch, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10. Born on December 11, 1934, in South Bend, Indiana, Chuck lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering smile that warmed the hearts of all who knew him.
A proud veteran, Chuck honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he dedicated 40 years of hard work as a printer at the South Bend Tribune, leaving a lasting mark on his community.
Chuck was blessed with 60 beautiful years of marriage to his loving wife, Marie (Grott), a partnership built on devotion and shared joy. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Lisa Murphy (Bob), Robert Arch (Deb), and Amy Foley (Trevor), who, along with their families, were the pride of his life. Chuck’s love extended to his grandchildren—Sarah, Caitlin, Rebecca, Keith, Kaylee, Dustin, Conor, Brendan, and Ciara—as well as his cherished great-grandchildren—Sophia, Madelyn, Eva, Owen, Brielle, Lucas, and Emelia.
His sister, Kathy Toppel (Bob), also held a special place in his heart.
Chuck’s passions were many. He found peace in fishing, strength in karate, and artistry in his beautiful wood carvings. Yet, above all, he found his greatest joy in his family, especially his grandchildren, who will forever remember his kind heart and ever-present smile.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Northwoods Village and the Center for Hospice Care for their loving care in his final days.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 14, 2025 at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, 1701 Miami St. South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until mass begins. Charles will be laid to rest at a later date at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
