Ruth L. (Wilson) Leonhard

Ruth L. Leonhard, 89, residing in South Bend, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at Wellbrooke of Westfield, Westfield, IN. She was born July 4, 1926 in South Bend, a daughter of Willis & Mable (Guiss) Wilson, and has remained a lifelong resident of this community.

On March 19, 1944 at 1st United Brethren Church of South Bend, Ruth was united in marriage to Earl M. Leonhard. Together, they enjoyed 65 years of marriage until his passing on November 25, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her son, John in 1996, a brother, Richard Wilson and a sister, Rosemary Wilson of Cassopolis, MI.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Jessica Leonhard of South Bend, and Jennifer (Steven) Lawson of Westfield, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Landon (Kristina) Toll, Whitney (Pete) Brown, Trevor (Emilie)Toll, Nathan Coddens, Andrew Leonhard, and Edward (Roxanne) Leonhard, along with five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Robert Wilson of LaCanada, CA.

Mrs. Leonhard retired in 1983 from the office of Leonhard Vending, Inc. where she enjoyed working with her husband for 21 years. She and Earl also spent many winters in Marco Island, Florida. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in South Bend.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, IN. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
