Barbara A. Scott
August 28, 1947 — June 22, 2026
South Bend -- Barbara A. “Barb” Scott, 79, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 22, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.
Born on August 28, 1947, Barbara was the daughter of Frank M. Scott and Barbaranel (Schlafer) Scott. She dedicated many years of service as a patient transporter at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, where she was known for her kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others.
Barbara was a devoted member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully attended worship. Her faith was an important part of her life and provided her with a loving church family.
She found joy in many interests throughout her life. Barbara loved ballroom dancing at Dan O’Day in Mishawaka, especially the friendships she made there. She had a lifelong love of horses and was an avid reader. She was a devoted fan of Notre Dame football and had a deep appreciation for music. A self-taught piano player, Barbara delighted in playing and singing her favorite songs, and she especially enjoyed Broadway musicals.
Barbara is survived by her brother, William M. (Carolyn) Scott of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her nephew, David W. (Laura) Scott of Muskego, Wisconsin; and her beloved great-nieces and great-nephew, Sylvia, Dominic, and Evelyn Scott, all of Muskego. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank M. Scott and Barbaranel (Schlafer) Scott.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at McGann Hay University Chapel, 2313 Edison Rd, with a funeral service immediately following at 11am. Pastor Susan Arner will officiate.
Barbara will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, love of music, and the warmth she shared with family, friends, and all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
