Gregory William Bahler

Gregory William Bahler, 75. a lifelong resident of South Bend passed away on Friday May 08, 2026, at his home.
Greg was born on December 29, 1950, in South Bend to the late James and Doris (Nuss) Bahler.
He graduated from Riley High School in 1969.
Drafted into the Army in 1970, Greg proudly served his country. He went on to work in Automotive sales and in painting.
On August 12, 1972, he married the love of his life, Marcia Kile, and they shared 36 years of marriage before her passing in 2009.
Known for his famous catch phrase, “It is what it is”, Greg lived life for his family and fun. He loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears and Purdue as well as Nascar. Party bus trips to the games with his family were a must. He never missed a family reunion or party, often times making someone drive him there, so he didn’t miss it.
Greg is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Andy) Leed as well as his grandchildren; Garrett (Leslie) Leed, Mason (Mallory) Leed, great granddaughter Ryan Leed, and McKenzie (Jake) Young, as well as his bonus son/neighbor, Bobby Alward and his sisters; Lori (Craig) Trobaugh and Nanette (David) Tschida.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his son, Ryan Bahler.
A private graveside will be held at a later date at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
IN lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Greg’s name may be made to the Center for Hospice, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka IN 46545.
